Penguin Day
Penguin Day!
Penguin Day is always a favorite for FCA Kindergartners. We dress in black and white, act like penguins and do lots of exciting penguin activitles. I had a wonderful parent as the photographer and so there are LOTS of GREAT pictures this year! Here is what you will see pictures of:
- Each one of us standing next to a life size picture of an adult Emperor Penguin. For years to come, on Penguin Day, children stop by to see how they measure up to the Emperor Penguin
- Making Penguins out of Oreo cookies
- Making Penguin puppets
- Reading and answering questions about Penguins
- The BLUBBER GLOVE experiment! Blubber is one way that penguins and other creatures stay warm in the freezing waters. We dunked both hands into icey water to feel the difference the blubber glove made. One hand was FREEZING while the other stayed toasty warm! God is so good to all His creatures! (the Blubber glove has Crisco shortening between 2 plastic bags)
- For a few minutes at snacktime we pretended to be LEOPARD SEALS and we devoured our Penguin cookies.
- Mrs. Wright even dressed up for Penguin Day
- Penguin Stories
- Penguin Puppet shows (look - 2 penguins even dressed up in costumes)
